This circuits a mix of quiet roads, gravel tracks, singletrack and bridleways. In places, and I’ll make no apologies for this, the climbs are tough but rewarding. Fave cafe stops on the route include Stamp in Ashover and Caudwell’s Mill cafe.

Eyam
This route starts and finishes in the historic village of Eyam. It’s rideable in most weathers but you may want to avoid the climb up from Millers Dale if its been really wet. There’s a nice section along the Monsal trail, taking in the tunnels and viaduct. This popular trail can be a bit busy… Continue reading Eyam
The Glorious Gravel Ride
This route originally appeared on our sister site Velotastic.co.uk. It was also partial inspiration for the first event we organised – the Hardcore100. “The Peak District, which is close to where Velotastic are based has an abundance of unclassified roads that are ideal for this kind of bike. The Eroica Britannia festival runs over a… Continue reading The Glorious Gravel Ride
Hope Valley Round
The Hope Valley is one of our fave places in the Peak. It’s a diverse geographical mix and is rightly very popular. This route takes in some classic Peak gravel and a few lesser known bits. It’s a fairly big day out, but is worth the effort.
Linacre
The Linacre Circuit has been a Peak District classic since it appeared in MTB guidebooks in the 1980’s. It is a combination of mud, climbs and cracking descents. We’re lucky enough to live a couple of hundred metres from the route and have ridden it more times than we can remember. It’s great for an… Continue reading Linacre
Hathersage Circuit
Another shorter gravel ride that we like that can be done in a morning or evening. Includes the option of a play on Lady Cannings MTB trails. Starting at the National Trust’s Longshaw estate which has a popular cafe on site the route heads over Houndkirk Road and past the Lady Canning’s plantation which offers… Continue reading Hathersage Circuit
Stanage
Sheffield markets itself quite rightly as the Outdoor City. A big chunk of it is in the Peak District and the national park is easily accessible. This route starts (and finishes) at the Norfolk Arms. A popular watering hole with cyclists. From here it heads across the edge of the Mayfield valley and round the… Continue reading Stanage
Bakewell and Monsal
The re-invented former railway lines in the Peak are popular with tourists and locals alike. This short route explores a couple of them . Starting at Bakewell station, the route heads off down the traffic free Monsal Trail. Be careful, especially at weekends to watch out for dogs and children off their leads ! The… Continue reading Bakewell and Monsal
Youlgreave Circuit
We’ve a soft spot for the White Peak. It’s often overlooked in favour of it’s bolder brassier Dark Peak neighbour, but has a wealth of trails that are worth discovering. This gravel based route starts and finishes at Alport near Youlgreave. It’s a mix of gravel tracks, quiet roads and bridleways. There’s also a small… Continue reading Youlgreave Circuit
